Had I Not Turned Vegetarian-

-I would be eating chicken instead of chickpeas, and lamb instead of lentils, and beef or fish instead of tofu or nuts.
I would be able to eat jelly, jelly babies, parmesan, pesto, and chinese sauces made with oyster sauce or nam pla.

My diet would be much higher in saturated fat, and I would have less nutritional knowledge. I wouldn't know that to get my omega 3's I should be eating walnuts or pumpkin seeds, that to get a complete protein, I need to mix protein with carbohydrate, such as houmous with crackers, or lentil dahl with rice.

I would be adding to the environmental pressure or animals being purposely bred and killed in order to feed me. Including the deforestation to cater for all these rising numbers of animal stock.

I would be pretty ignorant of the animal cruelty going on in order to feed me. The non-free range animals, born not to live a natural life.

If I wasn't compassionate for this then I would be compassionate for little else.
Nor would I be ecstatic at the thought of falafel with houmous, tabbouleh, and salad with pitta break. Nor a Turkish mezze of aubergine and vegetables cooked with fresh herbs, served with salad or mashed carrot, tabbouleh, houmous, olives and toasted pitta would be to my taste.

My world is more weighed up, thought about and informed.
